My favorite subject

My favorite subject this university time is Practice 4: Problematization of Learning Experiences, in this subject we are taught in a theoretical and practical way our work and pedagogical work as future educators.

I really like this subject because I have been able to learn about the concepts of childhood, how to act in different pedagogical environments, carry out projects, create learning experiences, contextualize the environments in which I work and more in these times of pandemic where technology has been used a lot, creating educational capsules, PowerPoint and infographics to deliver part of the knowledge to children, in order to seek various methods and strategies to promote the integral development of them.

Before studying this subject I thought it would be a little complex to understand all the theory that this has and put it into practice in the center where I was, however, the clarity with which the teachers explained the subject helped me to understand and put into practice everything I learned, I feel that all the knowledge acquired is paying off because little by little I am getting along better in different environments and analyzing how my pedagogical work should be both inside and outside
the classroom.

The importance of Early Childhood Education

Early childhood education contributes in many aspects to society, the area in which it is most focused is the education of future generations, since its objective is to provide tools and skills so that children can develop in society and achieve an optimal integral development.

The educators not only have a teaching role in education, but also a social role, they in turn look after the families and community of the establishment where they are, based on the contextualization of this, they work to deliver the teachings to the children every day.

As for how I see myself working in the future, I hope to contribute to the education of children, families and community through the pedagogy of love, to put into practice everything I have studied and learned in this career to leave a positive mark in the lives and places where I will work and be an example for future generations in order to improve little by little the national education.

María Montessori (1870-1952)

She was an Italian educator, scientist, physician, psychiatrist, philosopher, psychologist, devout Catholic, feminist, and humanist.

She founded the Children's House, developing there a particular method known as the Montessori method, thus renewing the teaching system. All her theories were based on what she observed the little ones doing on their own, without adult supervision. The premise that children are their own teachers and that in order to learn they need freedom and a multiplicity of options from which to choose inspired Maria Montessori in all her battles to reform the methodology and psychology of education. Thus becoming a method known all over the world.

For me, she is an example to follow, since, based on her knowledge and observations, she managed to create a method that even today is very relevant for education, promoting the autonomy and independence of children in the construction of their learning.

I was able to learn about his history and great feats thanks to his constant study and what we have talked about in different classes. I would like to be able to work in the future with his method and maybe I can also create and form one for future generations.

Completo italiano

One of my favorite (junk) foods is the completo, preferably the completo italiano (which you could say is the traditional one). In order to explain myself better I will write you about the ingredients and its preparation.

Ingredients:
  • Completo bread
  • Sausages
  • Tomato
  • Avocado
  • Mayonnaise
  • Dressings (your choice)
  • Salt
  • Olive oil
  • Lemon

Preparation:
  1. In a frying pan, cook the sausages (about 5 minutes).
  2. Wash, peel and cut the tomatoes into small cubes, then season with salt and a little olive oil (your choice).
  3. Cut and mash the avocado into a puree and then add a few drops of lemon juice to the mixture to prevent oxidation.
  4. Open the breads in half to toast them (in an oven or flat toaster) for two minutes.
  5. Prepare your Completo italiano!

I don't eat completo many times during the year, but only on occasions when I want to treat myself. I consider it one of the best inventions created by the human being hahaha because there are several varieties and preparations, which makes it very versatile and without a doubt you will never stop liking it.

This food undoubtedly brings a lot of calories to the body, and since my nutritional condition is not the best, I try to avoid eating in large quantities, although it is almost impossible.

The story of one of my favorite photos!

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.

I would like to share with you this picture that means a lot to me, because it was one of the last pictures I could take with my grandmother Eva.

This picture was taken by my mom in 2009 and it was one of her last Christmas. I remember that day we prepared together everything that would be done for that evening and we dressed a little more formal than usual. We had a very nice dinner where we could share as a family until midnight when we opened the presents.

She was and is one of the most important people in my life, seeing this picture reminds me of all the beautiful moments we spent together, especially when we were cooking -or when I was trying to cook haha- she was the one who raised me as a child, with whom I spent most of my childhood and I thank her enormously for taking care of me and teaching me.

There is no doubt that seeing these old pictures brings me a lot of joy, but also sadness because she could not be in my greatest achievements, however, I know that from heaven she is watching over me and celebrating with me.

My favorite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is the computer, even though it is a daily use device -even more so because of the pandemic- the reason it is my favorite piece of technology is because it has many uses, I can watch my favorite series, watch movies, watch my social media, do my college work, play games, make video calls with people I love who are far away. Also for the convenience, in this device I have everything I need just a click away, which makes it even more useful and helpful.

Without a doubt I highly recommend this device because it simplifies life hahaha, in the times we are living it is very necessary to have a technological tool such as the computer and I think all of us are almost used to have and use one of these, the only thing I suggest is that you can organize your time and not spend 24/7 glued to them.

The best holidays ever!

In 2015 I had the opportunity to have an unforgettable vacation.

For the summer vacation (Chile) I was able to go to the United States - it was a very fun and exciting trip - on this trip my sisters and I (alone) went from Santiago to New York (it is the longest trip I have ever taken as in its entirety it lasted approximately 12 hours). This was our first trip without our parents and in another country that is not Spanish speaking, it was in those moments where I realized the importance of knowing English because it was difficult for us to communicate with others and understand what they wanted to transmit to us.

We stayed for about three months and during this time I was able to see the Big Apple, get on a ferry, see the Statue of Liberty, visit Times Square, fulfill the dream of spending a white Christmas, among many other activities but, beyond that, we were able to reunite as a family (three generations) because after a few weeks my parents traveled with my grandparents, thus being the first time we were all together as Alarcón family.

Without a doubt this has been one of the best vacations and experiences of my life because, I was able to visit and get to know another country, learn about another way of life, understand the importance of English to communicate with my family (and with others), but above all to have the opportunity to be with the people I love and with whom I had never been able to share.
